Representatives of water management agencies gathered for the 87th meeting of the Interstate Coordination Water Management Commission of the IFAS. This was reported by the Internet portal “Vestiabad”.
The meeting participants discussed measures aimed at improving the environmental and socio-economic situation in the Aral Sea basin. Reports were presented from the heads of the regional water associations “Syrdarya” and “Amudarya” regarding the use of water limits. The volume of water intake for the Central Asian countries and the operating mode of reservoirs for the coming period were approved.
The meeting was attended by representatives of Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. The parties noted the major role of Turkmenistan’s water diplomacy in Central Asia, which contributes to strengthening diplomatic ties between states.
