DUSHANBE, 02/26/2024 /NIAT “Khovar”/. The 6th meeting of the working group of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan on the joint use of water resources of transboundary rivers of Central Asia was held in the city of Guliston, Sughd region, reports NIAT “Khovar” with reference to the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan.

At the meeting, the results of the project “Reconstruction of the Patar and Sarvat gauging stations in the interstate canals of the Great Fergana Canal and the Northern Fergana Canal”, financed by the Swiss Cooperation Office, were reviewed.

At the meeting, which was attended by the Minister of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan Daler Juma and the Minister of Water Resources of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Khamroev, as well as delegations of both states and development partners, further steps were discussed on the use of automated gauging stations “Patar” and “Sarvat” , as well as the possibility of implementing new interstate projects in the field of water resources and other related issues between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

Also, as part of the 6th meeting of the working group of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan on the joint use of water resources of transboundary rivers in Central Asia, the opening ceremony of the automated gauging stations “Patar” and “Sarvat” was held. They provide automatic recording and transmission of water flow data at these gauging stations and efficient management of water resources in interstate canals.

It should be noted that the automation of the Patar and Sarvat gauging stations in the process of digitalization of the water sector is considered one of the priority areas of activity of the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan.
