From June 1, 2024, secondary raw materials will be sold only through the exchange. This task is defined by the Decree of the President of Uzbekistan dated January 4, 2024, No. 5, “On measures to improve the waste management system and reduce their negative impact on the environmental situation”.
For information: On February 19 of this year, the head of state got acquainted with a presentation on reforming the sphere of ecology and environmental protection, including in the field of waste management. Following the presentation, the President was instructed to implement a pilot project on waste management in the Andijan region within a month.
This assignment was carried out for the first time in the Andijan region. Two enterprises put up for sale 4 tons of recycled materials. It is noteworthy that this is being done for the first time in the history of the republic. This practice is carried out in developed countries such as Japan and Korea, as well as the European Union. It is worth noting that the activities of persons illegally engaged in the collection and sale of secondary waste without compliance with environmental and sanitary requirements will be discontinued.
In the future, this system will create convenience for entrepreneurs, especially waste recycling enterprises, and will also serve to form the attitude of the population towards waste and its sorting.
