On March 27, the Institute of Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan held an international scientific and practical online conference on the topic “Peace and Trust – a Reliable Foundation for Maintaining Environmental Well-Being in the World”. The forum was held as part of the plan of events in the field of science, held in connection with the announcement of 2025 as the International Year of Peace and Trust and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality. The work of the international online conference was led by the Director of the Institute of Chemistry, PhD in Chemistry Khallymyrat Atayev.

Scientific and practical discussions were held in three sections devoted to the topics: “Green Technologies”; “Industrial Chemistry and Ecology”; “Chemistry and Ecology of Associated and Formation Waters of Oil and Gas Fields”. Among the foreign participants of the event were representatives of foreign research institutions, higher education institutions, and companies operating in Turkmenistan cooperating with the Institute of Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan. The forum was attended by heads of research institutions of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, engineers, teachers and specialists of higher education institutions, as well as postgraduate students, doctoral students and applicants for the academic degrees of candidate and doctor of science.

The participants noted that holding an international scientific and practical forum opens up broad opportunities for exchanging views between Turkmen and foreign scientists, carrying out joint scientific work, and also for using new scientific achievements in solving practical problems. In this regard, deep gratitude was expressed to the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for creating conditions for discussing topical issues of modern science, developing international scientific cooperation and for supporting scientific initiatives.

As Larisa Mamedova, Senior Researcher at the Institute of Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences, noted, during the conference interesting and informative speeches were made on various issues of preserving environmental well-being in the world and, in particular, on the topics identified at the conference related to Turkmenistan. In general, the work of the thematic sections of the forum, conducted at a high organizational level, was effective and productive.

Foreign and Turkmen scientists exchanged opinions on various scientific areas. The presentations at the sections were given in Turkmen and English with slides. Interesting scientific presentations evoked a great response among the audience, especially graduate students and young scientists. Based on the results of the sections, specific recommendations were proposed.
