Astana hosted an eco-festival with the participation of the Head of State

On April 21, 2025, an eco-festival was held in Astana with the participation of the Head of State, within the framework of which exhibition and interactive zones were organized to demonstrate innovative environmental projects and start-ups.

7 exhibition zones were dedicated to recycling – “The Second Life of Waste”.

For example, the KazStoneBox project produces furniture and containers for separate waste collection from stone paper, an environmentally friendly and waterproof material. The products are durable, long-lasting, moisture-resistant and fully recyclable, making them an environmentally friendly alternative to wood and plastic.

Technic Destroy recycles used lithium-ion batteries and returns valuable metals (lithium, cobalt, copper) back into production. This reduces environmental pollution and reduces dependence on imported raw materials.

In the direction of “Green Technologies”, the International Center for Green Technologies and Investment Projects has organized 9 zones.

TabQorTech is an eco-drone for monitoring forests and their restoration. The drone patrols forest areas in real time, identifying illegal logging and other threats to ecosystems. A unique feature is autonomous tree planting: the drone scatters biodegradable capsules with seeds and nutrients, ensuring high survival of seedlings even in arid regions.

The SMARTECOFIELD mobile complex allows for the rapid elimination of oil spill consequences, reducing the soil cleanup period from 12–15 months to 1–2 months and without harming the ecosystem.

It is worth noting the features of the event –

The general sponsor of the eco-festival is JSC Bank RBK.

“It is a great honor for Bank RBK to be part of such a large-scale and significant event that unites the efforts of the state, business and society in protecting the environment. It is gratifying that this is not just a platform for demonstrating environmental initiatives, it is a symbol of new thinking and shared responsibility for the future,” emphasized Natalia Akentyeva, Chairperson of the Management Board of Bank RBK.

The results of the Concept for the Development of Ecological Culture “Taza Kazakhstan” were summed up within the framework of the eco-festival.

Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan Erlan Nysanbayev noted that the number of participants in the environmental initiative exceeded 6 million people, which is almost every third Kazakhstani. Together, 1.1 million tons of garbage were collected.

Large-scale environmental events “Taza olke”, “Kieli meken”, “Zhasyl aimak”, “Onegeli urpak”, “Moldir bulak” have become traditional in the regions, within the framework of which 1.8 million hectares of territory were cleared, about 1.6 million green spaces were planted, more than 5 thousand historical and cultural heritage sites were brought into proper condition, in addition, more than 5.8 million square meters of area around rivers, lakes and other water bodies were cleared.

Let us recall that in June last year, the chatbot @TazaQazBot was connected to simplify the submission of applications for solving problems in the urban environment and the environmental sphere. Of the more than 16 thousand applications received to date, 14.6 thousand have been resolved.

In addition, this year the Ministry transferred more than 300 thousand seedlings to the regions, and launched a project to equip 130 schools in Astana and Zhezkazgan with containers for separate waste collection.

It is worth noting that all participants of the eco-festival were able to leave environmental wishes and suggestions on the “Wish Tree”.

The main event of the evening was the awards ceremony for leaders and innovators for significant contributions to environmental protection. Together with the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, 4 nominations for awards were determined.

The winner of the competition in the nomination “Environmental Start-up Innovation” was the “Faceplate” project. This is an innovative platform for monitoring and managing the operation of solar and wind power plants in real time.
