The delegation of the NGO “Society for the Protection of Nature of Turkmenistan”, headed by Director Serdar Allekov and NGO “Tibigi Kuvvat”, headed by Serdar Mametniyazov, a specialist in the field of renewable energy sources, met with Dr. Svetlana Mogilyuk, Chairwoman of the Civil Society Climate Network during the Central Asia Climate Change Conference (CACCC-2024). Further cooperation with public associations and civil society of Turkmenistan was discussed at the meeting. The meeting also discussed the future interaction of the civil society of Turkmenistan with public associations in all areas in the field of ecology, as well as the organization of online seminars between all Central Asian countries of NGOs.

Mr. S. Allekov spoke about the activities of the NGO “Society for the Protection of Nature of Turkmenistan”. The work of the NGO “Society for the Protection of Nature of Turkmenistan” is carried out in accordance with the laws in force in Turkmenistan, the Charter of protected areas and in accordance with the annual action plan. Velayat branches carry out their activities on the basis of annual work plans, which are approved by the Central Board.

Employees and members of the association annually hold exhibitions dedicated to the Independence Day and the Day of Neutrality of Turkmenistan, World Environment Day and other significant dates.

Turkmenistan NGOs also engage in work of the Aarhus Center with the support of the OSCE Center in Turkmenistan. They execute activities with participation of the civil society in the implementation of the Aarhus Convention.

After the meeting, the parties agreed to closely cooperate and involve NGOs of Turkmenistan and civil society in events related to the climate network, and also agreed to organize an online meeting involving all NGOs of Turkmenistan to familiarize themselves with the work of the climate network and involve young people in it.
