QAZAQ GREEN. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is providing a US$200 million (€172 million) loan to Enerjisa Enerji Üretim A.Ş. to support the development of new wind power capacity in Türkiye.
The financing will enable the construction of 250 MW of wind power plants in the Muğla province as part of Enerjisa Üretim’s broader 1 GW wind energy project portfolio. Once operational, the new facilities are expected to generate around 630 GWh of renewable electricity annually and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 221,000 tonnes per year.
The project is set to contribute to Türkiye’s climate and decarbonisation goals, strengthen national energy security and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
In addition to its environmental benefits, the initiative includes a significant social component. As part of the EBRD-supported investment, Enerjisa Üretim will establish a nationally accredited vocational training and certification programme aimed at reskilling workers from the coal sector for employment in renewable energy, agriculture and tourism. The programme is designed to support the company’s Just Transition agenda and create new economic opportunities in local communities.
The EBRD noted that the project combines the expansion of renewable generation with broader economic and social benefits. Enerjisa Üretim emphasised that increasing wind and solar capacity is viewed as a long-term commitment to energy security, climate resilience and sustainable development.
Türkiye remains one of the EBRD’s key countries of operation. Since 2009, the Bank has invested more than €23 billion in over 500 projects across the country, primarily in the private sector.
