5th Conference “Silk Road of Knowledge: Climate Mitigation and Adaptation in the Era of Socio-Ecological Uncertainties”, September 20, 2025, KNU, Almaty, Kazakhstan

Since 2020@dkukzas part of the Green Central Asia initiative, is holding the international conference “Knowledge Silk Road”. Over the past years, the conference has brought together more than 2,000 participants and over 100 organizations, providing a unique platform for dialogue between policymakers, scientists, technical experts and civil society representatives.
The objectives of the 2025 conference are to:
•Exchange the latest scientific results and innovations in the field of water resources management, land use, agriculture, climate security and energy transition, linked to the areas of Phase II of the Green Central Asia initiative (GCA II);
•Discuss science-based recommendations to support policy and economic strategies for climate change mitigation and adaptation in Central Asia;
•Present integrated approaches to increasing resilience in the face of growing socio-environmental uncertainty;
•Involvement of youth and women in science and policy-making;
•Prepare policy briefs based on the discussions to strengthen the science-policy interface in the region.
Thematic sessions:
1. Monitoring and modeling of glaciers in Central Asia under changing climate conditions
2. Gender and climate change in Central Asia
3. Innovative approaches in hydrological forecasting
4. Online tool for assessing climate impacts in Central Asia
5. Increasing resilience to drought: a practical session on the Droughtmap-ASB tool
6. Climate resilience in cities: sustainable planning for cities
