The event is held by the Committee for Environmental Protection, the Tajikistan Running and Marathon Association and the Committee for Youth and Sports with the aim of developing mass sports, forming an environmental culture, promoting a healthy lifestyle and drawing attention to the country’s unique natural attractions. The half marathon will take place along a picturesque route around the legendary Haftkul Lakes (Seven Lakes) located in the Zeravshan Valley. These lakes are famous for their crystal clear water, unique ecosystem and tourist appeal. The three-day program includes the main half-marathon running competition, an environmental campaign to clean up the shores of lakes, meetings of participants with local residents and volunteer movements, cultural events and master classes on the topic of ecology. According to the organizers, athletes and enthusiasts from Tajikistan, Central Asian countries, Europe and other regions of the world are expected to participate in the marathon. Particular attention is paid to the environmental component of the event – each participant will not only run, but also contribute to the preservation of natural heritage by taking part in garbage collection and greening of the surrounding area. Registration of participants is already open and is conducted online on the official platform: www.marathon.tj. The organizers encourage everyone to register in advance and join the event that combines sports, ecology and international friendship. The event will be part of the events within the framework of the Year of Youth, declared in Tajikistan, and is also being prepared in anticipation of the 35th anniversary of the state independence of the Republic of Tajikistan.
