April is the time for environmental celebrations! And we also have a small celebration coming up – the presentation of the book “ECOTOURISM. A Community Guide to Developing Tourism in Key Biodiversity Areas”.
Kyrgyzstan has great potential for tourism development, but it is important that this development occurs in a way that allows us to preserve our natural heritage, and in many cases, restore what has been lost. This guide is designed not only to explain the essence of the concept of “ecotourism”, but also to show how to organize it in practice.
The guide is illustrated with stories and photographs that were collected by the team of the Public Association “Union of Photojournalists” during expeditions in 2022-2024 within the framework of the project “Development of Ecotourism in Key Biodiversity Areas of Kyrgyzstan” with the support of the Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF)*.
