The project involves improving the environmental situation using innovative solutions, as well as organizing joint training programs for specialists in the field of water and land resources. One of the areas will be the creation of an information base for exchanging data on the state of water bodies in Central Asia.

The initiative is being implemented within the framework of the Central Asia-Italy format with the participation of the State University of Rome, the Italian Agency for International Development Cooperation, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the state-owned company Sogesid, which provides technical support. The project plans to use advanced technologies to monitor oases and optimize water use in the Amu Darya and Syr Darya basins.
Consultations on the project were held earlier – in October last year and March this year – with the participation of representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and the State Committee for Water Management of Turkmenistan. The work is being carried out in coordination with the Aral project, implemented with the support of UNDP.
During the current mission, the Italian experts visited hyakimliks, water management facilities, pilot sites, and the Amu Darya Nature Reserve. As part of the cultural program, the delegation got acquainted with museums and historical and cultural monuments of the country.
