🇹🇯 🍃 Presentation of the Environmental Code of the Republic of Tajikistan
📆 On December 18, 2025, the draft Environmental Code of the Republic of Tajikistan was presented at the Serena Hotel in the city of Dushanbe. The event was held with the support of the World Bank and coordinated by the Tajik branch of the Regional Environmental Center for Central Asia.
♻️ The event was opened by the First Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, Isfandiyor Shukurzoda, who emphasized that the draft had been developed on the basis of the country’s strategic planning documents, including the Concept of Legal Policy of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2018–2028, the National Development Strategy of the Republic of Tajikistan until 2030, the Medium-Term Development Program of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2021–2025, as well as the State Environmental Program of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2023–2028.
♻️ It was also noted that on September 17, 2025, during a meeting with employees of environmental protection authorities, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, instructed that the draft Environmental Code be submitted to the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan for approval in the first half of 2026.
♻️ Members of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, Rustam Latifzoda and Orif Amirzoda, speaking on the essence of adopting the draft, noted that the adoption of the Environmental Code would enable the establishment of a unified state environmental policy in the country, taking into account climate change processes, biodiversity loss, glacier protection, the development of the green economy, digitalization, the use of artificial intelligence, and other priority areas.
♻️ During the discussion, the representative of the World Bank Group, Ubaydulloh Hidayat, and the Director of the branch of the Regional Environmental Center for Central Asia, Zebo Muminzoda, emphasized that revising environmental legislation at the present stage is inevitable, and that its prompt implementation is of great importance for the country’s economic development and the strengthening of state environmental policy.
