Since 2016, the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC) has been organizing the Central Asia Climate Change Conference (CACCC) annually, fostering regional dialogue on climate change mitigation and adaptation.

In 2025, the conference theme is Achieving the Global Climate Finance Goal through Regional and National Actions in Central Asia to emphasize the importance of translating financial commitments agreed upon at COP29 UNFCCC into concrete actions and strengthening regional cooperation in enhancing climate resilience.

Why is this important? Central Asia remains one of the most climate-vulnerable regions, particularly in water and energy resources, agriculture, and land management. Studies confirm that temperatures in the region are rising faster than the global average, threatening glacier melt and desertification.

When and where? CACCC-2025 will take place on May 13-15, 2025, in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, and will be the seventh conference focused on national, regional, and global climate agendas.

Key topics of the conference:

  • Progress of Central Asian countries in climate change mitigation and adaptation.
  • Development of the third version of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC 3.0).
  • Mobilization and effective management of climate finance.
  • Transition of Central Asia to a “green” economy, ensuring water and energy security.
