In this edition of Business Line Uzbekistan, we look at how the country is rapidly embracing solar power, attracting billions in foreign investment and cutting emissions to become a leader in renewable energy.
Uzbekistan is rapidly developing its solar energy sector, with 11 solar power plants already operational and more in development. The country has attracted more than €22 billion in foreign investment in renewable energy, with a goal of reaching 54% of its total energy production by 2030.
The Bukhara solar power plant alone, with 860,000 panels, is capable of powering 400,000 homes. Having reduced CO2 emissions by 1.2 million tons per year, Uzbekistan is positioning itself as a leader in renewable energy in Central Asia, with plans to export clean electricity in the future.
