The Uzbek government will pay residents up to 1200 USD for installing solar panels and pumps. This will motivate citizens to buy modern energy-saving devices, the authorities believe.

A National Energy Efficiency Agency is being created in Uzbekistan, writes Gazeta.uz.It will allocate subsidies to the population to cover part of the cost of solar panels, water heaters and pumps in the amount of up to 18.75 million soums (about 1200 USD).

In addition, residents will be covered for part of the costs of conducting energy audits of residential buildings, as well as installing energy-efficient equipment.

“The subsidies will cover up to 20% of the cost of solar panels and water heaters, as well as up to 40% of the cost of heat pumps,” the Ministry of Justice of Uzbekistan reported.

The country will also create an extra-budgetary Fund for Stimulating and Supporting Energy Efficiency.
