Uzbekistan, Tashkent – ​​Podrobno.uz News Agency. Last year, ten thousand participants in the “Solar Home” program who installed solar panels sold the state about 12.2 million kilowatt-hours of electricity. For which they were paid almost 12.2 billion soums.

Deputy Minister of Energy Bakhtiyor Mamadkarimov announced this at a briefing in Tashkent .

Also, according to him, last year power plants with a total capacity of almost 2,790 megawatts were launched in Uzbekistan, of which:

• solar photovoltaic power plants – 1,000 megawatts;
• wind power plants – 800 megawatts;
• thermal power plants – 965.2 megawatts;
• hydroelectric power plants – 22.7 megawatts.

The country’s solar and wind power plants produced about 4.9 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity per year, equivalent to the annual consumption of more than 2 million households. This saved almost 1.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas and prevented the release of 2 million tons of harmful gases into the atmosphere.

In total, 81.5 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity were produced in the country last year. Of this, 67.5 billion kilowatt-hours were sent to consumers.

In 2025, it is planned to launch large solar and wind power plants with a total capacity of 4.5 gigawatts, install solar panels with a capacity of 785 megawatts, build hydroelectric power plants with a capacity of 225 megawatts, and introduce electricity storage systems with a capacity of about 1.8 thousand megawatt-hours.

Programs are also being developed to install small solar power stations in 300 mahallas. Water channels and streams will be used to build more than a thousand micro hydroelectric power stations. Solar-powered street lamps will be installed.

Thanks to these and other measures, the country plans to save 4.4 billion cubic meters of gas and 6 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity.
