On October 19, 2026, a meeting was held in Yerevan between Bakhodur Sheralizoda, Chairman of the Committee on Environmental Protection under the Government of Tajikistan, and Ambartsum Matevosyan, Minister of Environmental Protection of Armenia. The talks took place on the sidelines of the 17th session of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP-17), according to the Committee on Environmental Protection under the Government of Tajikistan.
The parties discussed prospects for strengthening bilateral cooperation in ecosystem protection and restoration, and biodiversity conservation and monitoring. Scientific and technical cooperation and the sustainable management of biological resources were also discussed.
Bakhodur Sheralizoda expressed satisfaction with Armenia’s support for Tajikistan’s key proposals on climate, water resources, and glacier protection. These initiatives are being implemented as part of the global initiatives of Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, with the support of the international community and the UN.
The Committee Chairman also stressed the importance of coordinating efforts at the regional and global levels to address environmental issues.
In turn, Ambartsum Matevosyan presented the initiatives of the Armenian Chairmanship at the 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity.
He noted the importance of exchanging experiences and implementing joint practical measures.
Following the meeting, both sides confirmed their interest in further developing bilateral cooperation, strengthening scientific and technical ties, and implementing joint projects in the field of environmental protection.
