Tajikistan plans to plant 2 billion trees by 2040

The Republic of Tajikistan continues to implement a large-scale environmental program aimed at planting 2 billion trees by 2040.

This was announced by the Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, Bahodur Sheralizoda, during his speech at the Regional Environmental Summit 2026 in Astana.

The main goal of the national greening program is to improve the environmental situation and ensure sustainable environmental development.

The program is focused on expanding green areas, restoring forests, and promoting the rational use of natural resources.

Key objectives include preserving biodiversity, preventing desertification processes, reducing soil degradation, and adapting to climate change.
