The 7th training on the greenhouse gas emissions calculation system is being held in Almaty from 15 to 18 July 2025 , organized by ESCAP jointly with UNOSD, UNFCCC, IPCC , CBIT – GSP with the support of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan .
The event brought together participants from more than 20 countries and aimed to increase capacity for climate reporting under the Enhanced Transparency Framework (ETF) of the Paris Agreement.

The training program covers such key aspects as the methodological foundations of greenhouse gas assessment according to the 2006 IPCC Guidelines, working with IPCC software and ETF tools, practical application of data and emission factors, as well as the creation and administration of national inventory systems. Particular attention is paid to preparing countries for the development of the Biennial Transparency Report.
During the seminar, a bilateral meeting was held between the Vice Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan M. Oshurbayev and the head of the UNOSD office , Chun Kuo Park.
The meeting discussed issues related to the possibility of developing a digital waste management platform and green climate technologies, the mechanism of Article 6 of the Paris Agreement and the preparation of the Regional Environmental Summit , which Kazakhstan plans to hold in 2026 .
