Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Adylbek Kasymaliev spoke at the conference “Strengthening Climate Finance in the Kyrgyz Republic”, outlining the country’s priorities in the fight against climate change.

In his statement, Kasymaliev stressed that climate change and sustainable development are key areas of state policy. He noted President Sadyr Japarov’s special attention to climate issues, especially given the vulnerability of mountainous countries such as Kyrgyzstan.

According to the National Development Program until 2030, the development of green energy and adaptation to climate change are priorities. The country is also developing a separate program for the development of a green economy until 2029 and is introducing a green taxonomy system to support sustainable projects.

Kasymaliev reaffirmed Kyrgyzstan’s commitment to the Paris Agreement. The country aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 44% by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.

He also highlighted the role of the Climate Finance Centre under the Cabinet of Ministers, identifying project development, private sector participation and regional cooperation as key elements in the transition to a sustainable growth model.

According to Kasymaliev, the conference could become a platform for exchanging experiences and developing solutions in the field of climate finance, which are particularly relevant for Central Asia.
