The second phase of “Clean Air Month” has begun in Uzbekistan.

On August 10, the second phase of the “Clean Air Month” campaign began in the regions of Uzbekistan. The campaign aims to strengthen state environmental monitoring of the technical and environmental condition of motor vehicles in operation.
The events are being conducted in compliance with Articles 16, 17, and 28 of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Air Protection,” as well as Article 11 of the Law “On Environmental Monitoring,” by the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change, jointly with the Road Safety Service.

The first phase of the campaign, which was conducted nationwide from April 10 to May 10, took place. During this period, specialists inspected 288,755 vehicles, measuring the pollutant content in their exhaust gases using specialized equipment. Based on the results, 1,384 vehicles (0.5%) were found to have pollutant levels in their exhaust gases that exceeded established standards. Measures were taken to correct the identified violations and bring these vehicles into compliance with established standards. During the inspections, 446 drivers were identified for gross violations of state standards for pollutant levels in exhaust gases. Traffic safety officers took action against them in accordance with the Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Administrative Responsibility.

Inspections were conducted at regularly scheduled traffic patrol posts, on streets, and at the entrances and exits of motor vehicle companies. If vehicles were found exceeding permissible limits, they were temporarily suspended until the necessary repairs were carried out. According to experts, these measures prevented the emission of 836 tons of pollutants into the atmosphere.

Clean Air Month is crucial for ensuring environmental safety and reducing the negative impact of motor vehicles on air quality. Monitoring allows for the timely identification of vehicles that do not meet established environmental requirements and the implementation of measures to correct the violations.

The second phase of Clean Air Month in the regions of the republic will last from August 10 to September 10. In Tashkent, the second phase will be held from September 10 to October 10.

During the second phase, control measures will continue on highways, at traffic patrol posts, and at the premises and facilities of motor transport companies. Information on the progress of the month-long campaign and its results will be widely covered in the media and on social media.
