Turkmenistan took part in the meeting of the regional project “One Health”

Representatives of Turkmenistan took part in the Regional Meeting of the multi-country project “Ensuring Pandemic Preparedness and Response Based on the One Health Approach in Central Asia”, which was held online on June 19-20.

The project is funded by a grant from the Pandemic Fund. The participating countries are Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

The meeting was attended by representatives of veterinary services, public health and environmental protection of the countries of Central Asia, as well as representatives of the World Bank, WHO, FAO, OIE, UNEP and CAREC.

During the 2-day meeting, reports were heard from each country’s sector regarding the progress of implementation and activities carried out within the framework of the project.

On behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture of Turkmenistan, the Head of the Department of International and Scientific Relations of the State Veterinary Service, concurrently the national coordinator of the One Health project, Arslan Soltanmyradov, made a report on the progress of implementation, the results achieved and the activities carried out within the framework of the project. Representatives of the Ministries of Health and Medical Industry and Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan also spoke at the meeting. The meeting became an important stage in further strengthening regional partnership and promoting the principles of “One Health” as a key instrument for ensuring stability and well-being of peoples.
