Uzbekistan’s energy system has set a new record: 43% of consumption was provided by “green” sources.

Uzbekistan, Tashkent – Podrobno.uz News Agency. Today, March 13, Uzbekistan’s energy system set a new record for the share of renewable energy sources. As of 11:00 AM, total electricity consumption in the country amounted to 9,900 megawatts, of which 4,300 megawatts—or 43%—was covered by renewable energy sources.

Solar photovoltaic plants accounted for the bulk of the output, generating 3,100 megawatts. Wind power plants contributed 660 megawatts, and hydroelectric power plants 540 megawatts. The total capacity of the 15 large solar power plants commissioned in the country is estimated at 3,930 megawatts. Cool weather following rain and snow increased solar panel efficiency to a record high of approximately 79%.

It’s important to emphasize that energy sector reforms not only promote environmental sustainability but also enhance the resilience of the national energy system. Uzbekistan is gradually strengthening its position in the development of renewable energy, making it a key factor in the country’s energy security.

As a reminder , Uzbekistan has developed a technology for storing energy using industrial waste.
