
QAZAQ GREEN. Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Energy and the management of Chinese energy corporation State Power Investment Corporation (SPIC) discussed the progress of a 1 GW wind power project in the Pavlodar region, Energy Ministry reports.
The Pavlodar Green Energy project is being developed by SPIC jointly with Pavlodar Green Energy LLP near the city of Ekibastuz. The project involves $1.2 billion in direct foreign investment, with the wind farm scheduled to be commissioned in 2029.
The project includes a wind power plant equipped with an energy storage system rated at 300 MW with an energy capacity of 600 MWh.
During the working meeting, the sides reviewed the current status of the project and the next steps for its implementation. The project is expected to increase electricity generation from renewable energy sources and strengthen the resilience of the regional power system.
The parties also discussed prospective areas of cooperation in the energy sector and opportunities for developing new joint projects.
Following the talks, Kazakhstan and SPIC reaffirmed their interest in further cooperation on investment initiatives in Kazakhstan’s energy sector.
