The $7.5 million initiative is being implemented with the support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Uzbekistan and the Education First Foundation (Education Above All, EAA) with the support of the Ministry of Preschool and School Education and the Zamin International Public Foundation.

The three-year project will reach 1.3 million young people and equip them with climate leadership skills.

The project plans to:
  • Include climate education and environmental protection principles in school curricula;
  • improve the qualifications of 50 thousand teachers to conduct classes on climate issues;
  • transfer 3,000 teaching aid kits to schools in seven regions of the country;
  • to train 4,000 students in vocational skills in renewable energy and climate-smart agriculture.

One of the key areas of the project will be supporting 800 rural young people in implementing local environmental initiatives through the Young Green Ambassadors network.

The project will also include national climate initiative competitions aimed at supporting innovative ideas. The best projects will receive international recognition, and their authors will be able to participate in the global environmental movement.

The project is expected to support Uzbekistan’s climate strategy and the Year of Environmental Protection and Green Economy program.
