The fourth water conference in Dushanbe will bring together over 2,500 delegates from over 30 countries, reports Kazinform’s own correspondent in Tajikistan.

“Billions of people still lack access to safe drinking water and sanitation. Climate change, population growth, and the risk of natural disasters are exerting unprecedented pressure, making the conference’s theme extremely relevant,” Vice Minister Sanoi Boyzoda said during a press conference at the Tajik Foreign Ministry.
The diplomat noted that the high-level international conference will bring together heads of state and government, ministers, UN agencies, international and regional organizations, financial institutions, scientific institutions, and representatives of civil society.
“Thirty-one countries, 33 international organizations, and financial institutions have already confirmed their participation. The forum is expected to bring together over 2,500 delegates and serve as a platform for discussing global water challenges,” said Rustam Abdullayev, head of the Energy Policy Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan.
The Fourth International High-Level Conference dedicated to the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development, 2018–2028” will be held in the capital of Tajikistan on 25–28 May 2026.
Building on the achievements of previous Dushanbe Water Process conferences (2018, 2022, 2024), the forum will be a key preparatory stage for the 2026 United Nations Water Conference (Senegal and UAE).
It was previously reported that a national water council had begun work in Tajikistan .
