Tajik President Emomali Rahmon called on the global community to address the impacts of climate change and rising temperatures, which have led to the rapid melting of glaciers and the deterioration of marine and ocean ecosystems. He reiterated his view that overcoming the Palestinian crisis and establishing peace in the Middle East is only possible through the implementation of UN resolutions and the “two-state solution.” Rahmon called for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and for residents of the area to have access to humanitarian aid.

The politician also spoke in favor of ensuring peace, stability, complete security, and socio-economic development in neighboring Afghanistan.

According to the President, accelerated adoption of digital technologies and the appropriate use of artificial intelligence can play a significant role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, as well as strengthening cybersecurity, an essential element of collective security. UN agencies, particularly the Office of Counter-Terrorism, should strengthen their support to the Organization’s members in this area.

Another important step in global cooperation will be the creation of equal rights for states large and small. Noting the difficult situation of developing countries, especially mountainous and landlocked ones, Rahmon called for measures to ensure funding for their sustainable development and access to financial resources.
