World Meteorological Day

This date is the date of entry into force of the World Meteorological Organization Convention in 1950. Monitoring environmental pollution is an important part of meteorological observations. Statistics collected over the past decade show that more than 80% of all natural disasters are of meteorological or hydrological origin.
