Call for Applications: Young Researchers Competition on Water in Central Asia and Afghanistan

Young scientists across Central Asia and Afghanistan are invited to apply for the Blue Peace Central Asia (#BPCA) Research Competition, supporting innovative, applied solutions to the region’s most pressing water challenges.

The competition is organized under the Blue Peace Central Asia (#BPCA) initiative, funded by the Swiss Agency for Development (#SDC) and Cooperation and implemented by the International Water Management Institute (#IWMI) in partnership with International Union for Conservation of Nature (#) and Central Asia Regional Environmental Centre Central Asia (#CAREC). It aims to strengthen regional cooperation and support young researchers in developing practical, policy-relevant solutions for sustainable water management.
Central Asia faces growing pressure on its water resources due to climate change, rising demand, ecosystem degradation, and socio-economic shifts. The competition seeks interdisciplinary research that responds to these challenges with practical and context-oriented approaches.
Selected researchers will receive up to USD 3,000 to conduct applied research projects over a period of up to 12 months. The program also offers opportunities for training, mentoring, and participation in regional events.
Who can apply:

* Aged 20–44
* Young scientists, researchers, Master’s or PhD students
* Individuals or teams (up to 5 members)
