Ecology Week will cover the entire country.Â

From April 21 to 26, Kazakhstan will host a marathon of environmental events within the framework of the republican initiative “Taza Kazakhstan”. The large-scale thematic week will cover all regions of the country, inbusiness.kz reports  with reference to the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
As reported by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, the eco-marathon will start in Astana, where the republican eco-festival will be held. It is dedicated to the results of the first year of the implementation of the “Taza Kazakhstan” initiative. Volunteers, activists, start-ups, representatives of large industrial enterprises, educational institutions and government agencies will take part in the festival.
One of the key events of the eco-festival will be the award ceremony for the winners of the republican competitions:
- “The best environmental educational institution”
- children’s drawing competition on the topic of careful use of water,
- “Green University” – for scientific projects and educational programs in the field of ecology and sustainable development,
- “Best Eco-Startup Project”.
“The Taza Kazakhstan environmental initiative is actively supported not only in the capital, but also in the regions. During the week, under its auspices, it is planned to hold about 200 environmental events and activities in cities and towns throughout the country,” the ministry noted.
- These include:
- “Taza aimak” – cleaning of territories,
- “Clean water bodies”,
- “Taza Beisenbi” – Maundy Thursday,
- “Kieli meken” – cleaning of sacred places,
- “Zhasyl aimak” – creation of green areas,
- “Moldir Bulak” – clean springs and other thematic projects.
“The week will end with a large-scale nationwide clean-up day. In all regions of Kazakhstan, there will be a greening campaign, within the framework of which it is planned to plant more than 20 thousand tree and shrub seedlings,” the report says.
According to the organizers, the environmental initiative “Taza Kazakhstan” has already united over 6 million people in a year, which is almost a third of the country’s population. This is a clear indicator of citizens’ involvement in environmental protection and sustainable development.
Among the results achieved:
- 1.8 million hectares of territory have been cleared,
- 1.1 million tons of garbage were collected,
- more than 1.6 million green spaces have been planted,
- More than 5 thousand historical and cultural heritage sites have been put in order.
“The Taza Kazakhstan initiative has become an important part of the country’s environmental policy and will be continued on an ongoing basis. Its priorities include increasing the level of environmental literacy among the population, introducing modern approaches to natural resource management, supporting environmental start-ups and scientific developments, as well as strengthening intersectoral interaction between society, business and the state,” the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources emphasized.
The organizers added that the main goal of the environmental week is not only cleaning and greening, but also the formation of a sustainable environmental culture and responsibility for the environment among Kazakhstanis.
“We call on all citizens of the country to join the environmental initiative and make their contribution to preserving nature and improving the environmental future of Kazakhstan!” – says the official appeal of the campaign organizers.
