📢 We invite you to the 7th summer school on the Aral Sea! 🌊🌱
From August 15 to 24, 2025, the 7th Aral Summer School will be held on the coast of the Aral Sea, organized by the Kazakh-German University (KNU) with the support of IHE Delft, GIZ and the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The summer school will bring together young professionals, scientists and activists interested in sustainable water and land management, ecosystem restoration and adaptation to climate change. Participants will be able to study the experience of restoring the Northern Aral Sea, participate in field research and develop projects for the sustainable development of the region.
The main topics of the summer school:
🔹 Water security and adaptation of agriculture to climate change
🔹 Ecotourism and restoration of the natural heritage of the Aral Sea region
🔹 Using GIS and satellite data for environmental monitoring
This is a unique opportunity to:
• Explore water and land management challenges
• Learn about climate adaptation and ecosystem restoration
• Conduct field research with international experts
Who can apply:
• Master’s & PhD students, young professionals (ages 18–40)
• From Central Asia
• Women are strongly encouraged to apply!
