QAZAQ GREEN. Kazakhstan’s Minister of Energy Yerlan Akkenzhenov has met with senior executives of TotalEnergies to review the progress of the company’s major investment projects in the country.

The TotalEnergies delegation included Mansur Zhakupov, Senior Vice President for Asia-Pacific at TotalEnergies EP, and Frode Ljones, Country Chair of TotalEnergies in Kazakhstan, the Energy Ministry said.

The talks focused on advancing the 1 GW Mirny wind farm in the Zhambyl region, which is set to become the largest wind power project in Kazakhstan.

The Mirny project is a cornerstone of Kazakhstan–France cooperation on decarbonisation and is being implemented under an intergovernmental agreement between the two countries.

The project will combine wind generation with a 300 MW / 600 MWh battery energy storage system, designed to enhance grid stability and balance output. It also предусматривает строительство около 280 km of high-voltage transmission lines to connect the facility to the South Kazakhstan GRES and Shu substations.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Akkenzhenov reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to maintaining close cooperation with international partners and providing the necessary support to ensure the timely commissioning of the project and the continued expansion of investment ties between Kazakhstan and France.

The implementation of the project with TotalEnergies will make a significant contribution to Kazakhstan’s carbon neutrality goals, supply the region with clean energy, and support the development of new technological capabilities in the renewable energy sector.
