On February 20, the 92nd meeting of the Interstate Commission for Water Coordination (ICWC) of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and the Republic of Uzbekistan was held in Dushanbe. - On amendments and additions to the Regulations of the Secretariat of the ICWC;
- On the agenda and venue of the 93rd regular meeting of the ICWC.
On the first agenda item, reports were presented by the Amu Darya and Syr Darya BWOs. Both reports confirmed the key role of interstate coordination and coordinated water resource management during low-water conditions. Adopted reservoir operating regimes and adherence to water withdrawal limits made it possible to avoid critical water supply disruptions and maintain the manageability of the Central Asian water management system during the 2025–2026 non-growing season.
On the second issue of the agenda, Director of the Scientific and Research Center of the ICWC D.R. Ziganshina reported on the work carried out by water management organizations and the executive bodies of the ICWC to implement the proposals and initiatives voiced at the Summits of the Heads of State of the IFAS Founders in Turkmenbashi (2018) and Dushanbe (2023).
Participants considered issues of institutional development, including amendments and additions to the Regulations of the ICWC Secretariat.
After discussions by the parties on all issues, appropriate decisions were made and a protocol was signed.
The 93rd meeting of the ICWC will be held in Uzbekistan in April this year.
