The International Center for Green Technologies and Investment Projects (ICGTIP) and the Shanghai Science and Technology Exchange Center signed a strategic cooperation agreement, giving Kazakhstan direct access to one of Asia’s largest green technology platforms, the Green Technology Bank.

The agreement became a significant step in strengthening the scientific and technical dialogue between Kazakhstan and China and opened up broad prospects for the accelerated implementation of advanced environmental solutions in the economy of the republic. Now, Kazakhstani enterprises, research centers and start-ups will be able to use developments from China’s database, including innovations in the field of renewable energy, water resources, waste recycling, agroecology and other areas.
According to the agreement reached, the Shanghai Science and Technology Exchange Center has undertaken obligations to provide the Kazakh side with access to the technological database and expert network of the Green Technology Bank. In addition, the annual organization of joint events with the participation of Kazakh companies is envisaged – including road shows, forums and business missions – with possible provision of financial support from the Chinese side. A separate area will be the systematic assessment and support of twenty priority green projects in Kazakhstan: experts will participate in the development of work plans and provide recommendations on adapting technologies to the conditions and requirements of the local market.
Acting Chairman of the Board of the International Centre for Transport Infrastructure and Infrastructure Development (ICTIID), Saken Kalkamanov, emphasized the strategic importance of the signed document:
“Kazakhstan gains direct access to the experience and solutions of one of the global leaders in green technologies. This creates a solid foundation for the accelerated implementation of environmental innovations, attracting investment and developing technological partnerships. We see this as a strategic tool for promoting a sustainable future for our country.”
Both sides expressed confidence that the signed agreement will not only strengthen bilateral cooperation within the framework of global initiatives such as “One Belt, One Road”, but will also become a practical tool for integrating Kazakhstan into the international green agenda – through knowledge sharing, opening new markets and launching joint projects.
