Kazakhstani hydrogeology specialists completed a six-month advanced training program organized jointly with the U.S. Geological Survey. During this time, USGS experts introduced participants to modern technologies for monitoring, assessing, and modeling groundwater, and the best students received international certificates. The Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation emphasized that cooperation with international partners will continue, inbusiness.kz reports , citing the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of the Republic of Kazakhstan .

Kazakhstani hydrogeologists have completed a six-month training program organized by the Groundwater Department of the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of the Republic of Kazakhstan in collaboration with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). Over the course of six months, American specialists conducted online seminars for employees of the National Hydrogeological Service “Kazhydrogeology” and its regional branches.

The training program was aimed at improving the professional qualifications of Kazakhstani specialists and familiarizing them with modern international approaches to the study, monitoring, and rational use of groundwater resources.

“During a series of seminars, participants explored modern methods for groundwater monitoring, assessment, and digital modeling, as well as effective water resource management. Furthermore, experts from the U.S. Geological Survey presented leading global practices in hydrogeology, which are currently being applied in various countries to ensure sustainable water use,” the Kazakh Ministry of Water Resources reported.

Following the training, the US Geological Survey awarded certificates to 20 of the most active participants in the program, including specialists from the National Hydrogeological Service “Kazhydrogeology” and its affiliates. These international certificates served as confirmation of successful completion of the program and active participation in educational activities.

In addition, separate certificates of gratitude were awarded to employees of the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation’s Department of Groundwater and the Ministry’s Department of Strategic Development, who participated in organizing and implementing the joint educational program.

Bolat Bekniyaz, Chairman of the Board of the National Hydrogeological Service “Kazhydrogeology,” emphasized the importance of international cooperation for the further development of the industry and the improvement of the qualifications of domestic specialists.

“The Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation expresses its gratitude to the US Geological Survey for its fruitful collaboration and support in improving the qualifications of Kazakhstani specialists in the study and management of groundwater resources. We will continue to collaborate with our international partners in sharing best practices and jointly training personnel,” noted Bolat Bekniyaz.

The Ministry emphasized that developing the professional competencies of specialists and implementing international experience remain a priority. The knowledge and modern methods acquired during the training will be used in the further study, monitoring, and management of Kazakhstan’s groundwater resources, which will contribute to more efficient and sustainable use of strategically important water resources.
