Climate change requires all countries to take drastic measures to protect and rationally use natural resources, especially to protect and preserve glaciers. This was discussed today at the Ministerial Dialogue Forum on Climate Resilience, Glacier Conservation and Water Cooperation, which took place in Dushanbe as part of the International High-Level Conference on Glacier Conservation.

Speaking at the opening of the forum, Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan Bakhodur Sheralizoda stressed that the rapid melting of glaciers could lead to an increase in the number of natural disasters such as floods, landslides and prolonged droughts. These processes, in turn, pose a serious threat to economic and social stability.

The forum was held in two phases. In the first session, high-level policymakers, including environment ministers, discussed national strategies and public policies on glacier protection, climate change adaptation and water connectivity. The second session focused on building partnership networks and combining conservation efforts with local communities, especially youth, women, academia and the private sector.
It was also noted that climate change is one of the most important and acute global problems of our time. It has a negative impact on both nature and humanity. Among the consequences are an increase in the average global temperature, changes in precipitation patterns, an increase in the frequency of natural disasters and the degradation of ecosystems.
One of the most visible and alarming manifestations of climate change is the rapid melting of glaciers, which has profound destructive consequences for water resources, ecological balance and sustainable development at the planetary level.
