In accordance with the approved schedule of the Executive Body of State Authority of Sughd Region, on February 9, 2026, a press conference was held in the conference hall of the Main Department for Environmental Protection in the region, dedicated to the results of activities in 2025.
The press conference was attended by the Head of the Main Department for Environmental Protection in the region, S.Kh. Kholзода, who answered questions from representatives of the mass media.
Journalists from various media outlets also took part in the press conference, including correspondents of newspapers and magazines such as Jumhuriyat, Sadoi Mardum, Narodnaya Gazeta, Haqiqati Sughd, Sogdiyskaya Pravda, Sughd Haqiqati, as well as representatives of information agencies Asia Plus, Sputnik, Sughd-Press, television channels MD TV Jahonnamo, Safina, Sinamo, Sughd Regional Television, SHTR Asia, SM-1, Diyor, radio stations Tojikiston, Zamon, Payvand, Shahri Man, Ozodi, along with a number of independent journalists, analysts, and experts. In total, 42 representatives participated.
During the press conference, journalists raised questions related to the main environmental problems observed during the past year and ways to address them, monitoring the survival rate and growth percentage of planted saplings, the number of old-growth trees across the region, the condition and causes of atmospheric air pollution, as well as other issues related to environmental protection. Comprehensive answers were provided to all questions.
According to the planned agenda, at the conclusion of the press conference, active participants of the initiative “Keeping the Environment Clean Is a Sign of Human Culture”, announced by the Main Department for Environmental Protection in the region in October 2025, were awarded.
Three active participants of the initiative – Asia Plus correspondent Farzona Murodi, journalist of 7-Sitora Television Uguloy Rajabova, and a resident of Khujand city, Rukhsora Mallaeva – were presented with gifts and certificates of appreciation from the Main Department for Environmental Protection in Sughd Region.
It was emphasized that the initiative “Keeping the Environment Clean Is a Sign of Human Culture” was launched to encourage active public participation in improving the environment and preventing violations, including illegal dumping of household waste, unauthorized tree cutting, and other breaches of the requirements of current environmental protection legislation. The initiative is ongoing, and all those who care about improving the state of the environment are welcome to participate.
