The Caspian Sea level has been declining since the mid-1990s. In 2025, it reached a historic low of below minus 29 meters.

Environmentalists and experts note that fluctuations in the Caspian Sea’s water level may continue, but scenarios of the reservoir’s complete disappearance in the coming decades are not being considered.
