According to the head of the Russian Business Center in Afghanistan, a number of Russian companies are signing long-term leases of land plots for agricultural purposes next to this canal.

RFfoundcreate jobs in Afghanistan and invest in projects, Rustam Khabibullin, head of the Russian Business Center in Afghanistan, told RIA Novosti.

According to him, “these are the same plants, factories, agriculture, including the construction of the Kushtepa water canal of great interest. A number of our companies arrange long-term leases of land plots for agricultural purposes near this canal,” Khabibullin said.

“We aim to develop jobs and attract Russian investors to Afghan projects,” said the head of the Russian Business Council.

Let us recall that the current authorities of Afghanistanannouncedon the construction of the Kushtepa canal, which will take water from the Amu Darya. According to experts, when the canal is completed, 20 to 30% of the Amu Darya water will be diverted to the northern regions of Afghanistan.
