The prospects for bilateral and regional cooperation in the energy sector were discussed by the Minister of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan Daler Juma and the Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Asad Majid Khan. This was reported by the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan.

During the meeting, the parties considered issues of strengthening cooperation in the field of renewable energy, ensuring energy sustainability and developing a “green” economy. Particular attention was paid to the development of a Strategy for Ensuring Energy Sustainability in the Region, which provides for the use of renewable energy sources and the introduction of environmentally friendly technologies.
Asad Majid Khan praised Tajikistan’s international initiatives in the field of water resources and combating climate change. He stressed the importance of the republic’s work to preserve aquatic ecosystems and promote the climate agenda in the international arena.
The Minister of Energy and Water Resources invited the ECO Secretary-General to participate in the International Conference on Glacier Conservation to be held in Dushanbe in May 2025. The forum is expected to discuss global challenges related to melting glaciers and measures to conserve water resources in the Central Asian region.
