On July 13, 2026, Isfandiyor Shukurzoda, First Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, met with Gunajav Batjargal, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Mongolia to Tajikistan.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the participation of the delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan in the 17th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (CCD-17) and expressed their views on the draft Memorandum of Understanding between the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change of Mongolia.
It was emphasized that this document is aimed at cooperation in the areas of pasture restoration, glacier protection, climate change mitigation, and desertification control. It defines the main areas of glacier and cryosphere protection; pasture restoration; climate change mitigation, desertification prevention, and land restoration; biodiversity protection; environmental monitoring; and strengthening scientific cooperation.
At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed the need to organize online meetings of relevant specialists to exchange experiences and improve the qualifications of employees.
