At the initiative of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and with the financial support of the Asian Development Bank, a high-level consultation seminar was held on April 8, 2025, at the Hilton Hotel in Dushanbe, which was attended by representatives of the Republic’s media. Specialists and experts on environmental issues and volunteers of the Committee for Environmental Protection also took part in the event.

At the event, international representatives discussed issues related to climate change, the current state of glaciers, problems, ways to solve them, collective measures to protect the environment, providing accurate information on the conservation of glaciers to various segments of the population and other issues related to the goals of the upcoming conference.

In fact, the current state of glaciers, their melting trends and the impact of climate change on the planet are one of the pressing issues, and in recent decades the number of small and medium glaciers has decreased, and this process continues at an alarming rate.

After the speech, the representative held a meeting with the media and gave specific and detailed answers to many questions from journalists. The leaders of the consultation seminar, as well as the use of modern methods of monitoring and studying the conservation of glaciers, the successful experience of individual countries in the field of environmental awareness, the impact of glaciers in the process of climate change on the increase of natural risks, such as floods and floods, and other issues related to the topic raised were considered by the participants.

The main objective of the event is to raise awareness among the public and relevant institutions through the media about the dangers of climate change, especially the melting of glaciers. The summit was organized to strengthen cooperation between government agencies, international organizations and civil society to develop joint and sustainable ways to protect water resources and the environment.
