The share of “clean” electricity in the total generation volume in Central Asia

 

QAZAQ GREEN.  According to Our World in Data, the average share of electricity generated by renewable energy sources in the world in 2023 was 30.2%. In Asia, this figure was 24.7%, in the CIS countries – 17.7%. As noted byranking.kz,in this rating, analysts took into account hydropower as a whole, and not just small hydroelectric power plants.

In Uzbekistan, the share of electricity generated from renewable energy sources was 9.38%. This is one of the relatively low values ​​among the CIS countries. For comparison: in Tajikistan this figure reaches 89.37%, in Kyrgyzstan – 85.92%, in Armenia – 26.57%, in Ukraine* – 19.74%, in Russia – 17.57%, in Kazakhstan – 12.76%, in Moldova – 9.68%, in Azerbaijan – 6.86%, in Belarus – 2.71%, in Turkmenistan – only 0.03%.

In the global ranking by the share of electricity generated by renewable energy sources, Uzbekistan took 154th place out of 195. The leaders of the ranking with a 100% indicator were Albania, Bhutan, the Central African Republic, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Lesotho, Nepal and Paraguay. The last place went to Turkmenistan.
