Turkey sets sights on Aegean Sea for first offshore wind tender

Turkey will hold its first offshore wind Renewable Energy Resource Area (YEKA) tender in the first quarter of 2027, Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar said on Wednesday.

The tender will cover four areas in the Aegean Sea off Turkey’s northwestern coast, near Saros Bay and the islands of Gökçeada and Bozcaada, as well as Edremit, as the government targets 5 gigawatts of offshore wind power capacity by 2035.

The Energy and Natural Resources Ministry has published a draft tender specification and invited industry representatives, investors and relevant organizations to submit their views by August 17. The ministry will prepare the final specification after reviewing the submissions.
