Uzbekistan, Tashkent – Podrobno.uz News Agency. Uzbekistan is among five countries that will benefit from international experts’ assistance in developing climate projects to attract investment. This work will be carried out as part of the Climate Implementation Bridge (BRIDGE) initiative, launched with the participation of UNDP.

The initiative’s launch was announced on September 24 in New York during Climate Week. The program is being implemented under the auspices of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP31) Presidency, with the participation of UNDP. Along with Uzbekistan, the first group includes Ethiopia, Fiji, Indonesia, and Pakistan.

Experts will help develop projects and attract funding. This is especially relevant for Uzbekistan: according to its updated climate commitments, the country intends to reduce greenhouse gas emissions per unit of GDP by 50% by 2035 compared to 2010 levels.

The initiative will focus on the development of renewable energy, energy efficiency, water efficiency, sustainable agriculture, waste management, and climate change adaptation.

On October 8, the National Climate Change Center held an online meeting with the Turkish side to discuss next steps. During the first stage, international experts, together with Uzbek specialists, will analyze existing programs and prepare a roadmap for practical implementation.

Participation in BRIDGE opens new opportunities for Uzbekistan, including attracting investment, collaborating with international partners, and accelerating the transition to a low-carbon economy. The initiative will also strengthen cooperation with Turkey ahead of the 31st UN Climate Change Conference (COP31), which will take place in November 2026 in Antalya.

It was previously reported that Germany will allocate 71 million euros to projects in the areas of economic development, social protection, rule of law, climate, and energy in Uzbekistan.
