The satellite was launched from a sea-based launch platform off the coast of China’s Shandong province.

The device was developed in collaboration with the Chinese company Star.Vision.

As part of the project, a dedicated artificial intelligence module was developed for the satellite’s onboard system, enabling the processing of hyperspectral data directly in orbit. This increases the efficiency of data transmission and subsequent analysis.

The data obtained from the satellite is planned to be used for the development of key sectors, including the agricultural sector, environmental monitoring, water resource management, emergency forecasting, and urban infrastructure planning.

“Samarkand-2028” is one of the major international space projects for Uzbekistan, which also contributes to strengthening scientific and technical cooperation with China.

It was previously reported that Uzbekistan will send its first cosmonaut on a mission in 2028 .
