For the first time, water agencies of Kazakhstan and China signed a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation in the Field of Water Resources
The Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Water Resources of the People’s Republic of China signed a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation in the Field of Water Resources for the first time. The document was signed at the 12th Session of the Kazakhstan-China Cooperation Committee held in Beijing, chaired by First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Roman Sklyar and Deputy Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China Ding Xuexiang.

The memorandum was signed by Vice Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nurlan Aldamzharov and Deputy Minister of Water Resources of the People’s Republic of China Li Liangsheng. The document provides for strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of rational and sustainable use of water, implementation of modern technologies, distribution and development of alternative water sources, as well as exchange of experience and joint training of personnel.
“A year ago, during a working visit to the People’s Republic of China, we reached an agreement with the Chinese side to sign a memorandum of cooperation and understanding. The development of the document, which was signed today, began immediately. Cooperation in water resources will contribute to their more efficient use, implementation of advanced technologies for water metering and saving, and advanced training of specialists in the water industry,” said Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Nurzhan Nurzhigitov.
