This was stated today by the Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Qu Dongyu at the Astana International Forum, Kazinform reports.

— Based on my 45 years of professional experience, I would like to note that Kazakhstan’s potential is still underestimated. There are essentially two different maps in the world. The first is centered in Europe. From this perspective, Kazakhstan, like even China, is often perceived as a small country, especially in comparison with Italy or other European countries. There is also a Latin American map, where our region also remains in the shadows. Meanwhile, Kazakhstan is a country with a territory of millions of square kilometers, — he said.
According to him, thanks to modern technologies and competent policies, Kazakhstan is capable of achieving significant success. With sufficient investment, innovation and joint work, great results can be achieved, including in the field of water resources management.
Qu Dongyu noted that the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations continues to support member states. Since 2019, the first reforms in the organization have been launched, increasing the effectiveness of all support programs.
“Our goal is to ensure that every dollar spent brings real results. All 20 member countries, including the United States, China, Japan, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, are actively involved in this process,” Qu Dongyu noted.
Earlier, the FAO Director-General announced the extension of cooperation with Kazakhstan for another 10 years.
