The meeting focused on strengthening regional cooperation in the areas of environmental protection, climate change, the sustainable management of transboundary water resources and engagement with Afghanistan.

The Uzbek side presented proposals to launch short-term training programmes for Afghan professionals in environmental protection and climate change adaptation at the Central Asian Green University. It also proposed engaging the University in research on regional environmental challenges across the Amu Darya River Basin.

Particular attention was given to mobilizing international financing for joint water conservation initiatives, establishing an independent scientific monitoring system to assess the impact of the Qosh Tepa Canal on the Amu Darya River Basin—including its environmental implications—using advanced digital technologies, and preparing a joint economic and environmental assessment of future cooperation in the fields of environmental protection, energy, trade and infrastructure.

Representatives of Dialogue Action commended Uzbekistan’s initiatives, reaffirmed their interest in expanding cooperation and expressed their readiness to facilitate the engagement of international partners and donor organizations in support of the implementation of joint projects.
