The Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC), within the framework of the Blue Peace Central Asia initiative, announces an open call for women water sector specialists to participate in the Regional Network “Women in Water Resources Management in Central Asia”.
The Network is a community of practice uniting women professionals from the public and non-governmental sectors working in water resource management, ecology, climate change, international cooperation, and related fields. Its activities are aimed at developing professional capacity, strengthening women’s leadership, promoting gender equality, and increasing women’s participation in decision-making processes related to transboundary water resource management and water diplomacy.
The regional network is part of the Global Women in Water Diplomacy Network, which brings together members of similar networks in the Nile Basin, South Africa, North America, the South Caucasus and other regions of the world.
What are the benefits of participating in the Network?
Participants gain access to an international professional community of women experts and participate in expert meetings, thematic seminars, trainings, and master classes on international water law, negotiations, mediation, leadership, and communications. The network provides access to a knowledge base and analytical materials, the opportunity to participate in the development of recommendations for government agencies and the donor community, and to represent the region at international forums, including the UN Water Conference, which will be held from December 8–10, 2026, in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Who can apply?
Women citizens of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, or Uzbekistan representing government agencies and their subordinate structures (basin and water management organizations, hydrometeorological services, etc.) whose activities are related to water resources management and international water cooperation are invited to participate. Applicants at any stage of their professional careers interested in professional development, strengthening leadership competencies, and regional cooperation are welcome.

The selection process consists of three stages: submitting an application via an online form, review of applications by an expert committee, and a short online interview with shortlisted candidates.
